Christianity

Armenia is one of the oldest Christian nations in the world. Christianity is the largest religion in the country, with an estimated 97% of the population belonging to the Armenian Apostolic Church. It is considered an important part of the national identity, and is an integral part of Armenian culture and heritage. Armenia was the first nation to declare Christianity as its state religion in 301 AD. Today, Christian tradition and values continue to shape the country's laws, customs, and beliefs.

Churches in Armenia

Armenia used to be a Pagan nation but accounting to historical accounts, two disciples of Jesus, Thaddeus and Bartholomew, came to preach to the pagan Christians. The lessons that the disciples spread gave Armenians reasons for the natural events that were happening all around them.
